what time are mes meetings?

MES has no regularly scheduled meetings. Instead, we have multiple events per month on different days and at different times. You are not required to attend any event, but are encouraged to attend as many as you are interested in.

who can join mes?

MES members come from all years and all majors. We have members from engineering, economics, public policy, business, and other LSA majors. mes also has economics graduate students.

how do I become a member?

To become a member, please fill out an application (Download the mes Application) and drop it off with your membership fee ($30 for Freshman/Sophomore, $25 for Junior/Senior, $20 for Graduate Students) at our office (Lorch 154). You will be emailed confirmation that we have received your application within 2 business days. If you do not receive one, please contact mes-info@umich.edu.

is there a deadline for my application?

There is no deadline for your application, but the sooner you turn it in, the sooner you will be able to attend MES member-only events.

how will I be notified of mes events?

Keep an eye on your email for updates and event notifications from mes. Also, our website has a complete list of upcoming events.

I have an idea for an event or speaker. can I help out?

MES encourages its members to actively seek out speakers and new ideas for events. If you would like us to hold an event, please contact us at mes-info@umich.edu and we can discuss the possibility.

when will the mes board application be available?

The current school year's MES board application is usually available mid-to-late October. An email will be sent out to all members once it is completed. After reviewing applicants, we will invite selected members to an interview and make our final decisions.

when can I pick up my mes t-shirt?

Usually, t-shirts will be available starting in October. An email will be sent out stating when and where you can pick them up. However, every couple of years we redesign our t-shirt. If you are joining during one of these years, we usually give out our old t-shirts to members at the beginning of such a year. We will then distribute the new shirts sometime during October. If you have a design or slogan you think we should use, please email it to mes-info@umich.edu. The t-shirts should be done and available for pickup in mid-to-late October.
